Should we really interfere with evolution?
We should have asked ourselves this question several hundred years ago. By now, we have already intervened in natural selection processes in many different ways: through modern medicine, through the way we organize our lives, through the creation of new means of transmitting information, and so on. In addition, with the age of gene therapy, we are also reaching the point where people can change their genome during their lifetime. The original path of natural selection, for which we have to die, therefore seems to be becoming obsolete once and for all.
This does not mean that our further development will stop, but simply that we will no longer evolve according to Darwinian principles. Instead, our progress will be shaped socially, culturally, scientifically and technologically - just as it already is today.
