At our federal party convention last Saturday, we adopted our election program for the European election on May 26, 2019.
Our demand is that 30 billion euros of the EU budget per year be invested in research for effective medicine against age-related diseases, in addition to the 9th Framework Programme for Research "Horizon Europe".
Currently, only about one billion euros of the EU budget per year is invested in health research as a whole, and only part of that in research against age-related diseases. So we are advocating a more than thirtyfold increase in public investment in this field.
In our view, for ethical and economic reasons it is very important to considerably accelerate the development of effective medicine against age-related diseases through substantially more public investment.
